Mayor Hal Marx and Tony Stephens President of Optimist Club and Petal Baseball Association, Sign the agreement between Optimist Park and the City of Petal. The agreement will allow Petal Dixie Softball to play at the Optimist Park..
A few months ago I was approached by Tony Stephens and Derek Hall to see if Petal Dixie Softball had any interest in taking over the Optimist Ball Fields. We realized that the City of Petal would need to be involved a short time after the negotiations started.
After all the meetings and negotiations, it is with great pride and honor that I am announcing that Petal Dixie Softball will have a new home as of August 6th. We are moving to the old optimist ball fields. I would like to thank Tony Stephens and Derek Hall from the Petal Ball Club for their vision and perseverance. I would like to also thank the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Petal and Tom Hardges for their opened minds and care for the girls of the City of Petal that want a place to play fast pitch softball. Without these men this move would have not happened.
We are going to start right away to get the fields converted to softball fields so they will be ready for the fall season. We will have a place for every age group we offer now to practice and play. With this move we are now offering coach pitch for 5 and 6 year olds girls. Having this park will allow the girls of the city of petal to play fast pitch softball competitively for as long as they want.
